Turn 17: Tragedy Strikes the Fellowship

One of the greatest figures of Middle Earth fell on the fields on Anorien as Mordor and Gondorian forces clashed. 75000 orcs led by the despicable Mouth of Sauron engaged the recently bolstered forces of Anorien. 84000 Men of the West stood firm against the horde. Gandalf led the charge and at the end of a bloody day, 53,000 orcs were slain for the loss of a mere 8,000 men.
Too late, the Gondorian commanders realized their foes plans as wave after wave of screaming orc threw themselves at the White Rider. Weakened and drained, Gandalf was overwhelmed by the fey spells of the Mouth. His work done, the Dark Lords lieutenant turned and fled the field to the gullies of the Entwash.
The loss to Middle Earth can only be measured in millennia.

This terrible news was somewhat allayed by the capture of the Black Gate of Mordor itself. An opportunistic attack was launched as forces were seen maneuvering deeper into Mordor. 30,000 men of the West stormed the walls against a mere 3,900 defenders. All defenders were slain for the loss of 1000 men.

Ground was exchanged between elf and orc as the ancient forest of Mirkwood becomes a hunting ground. Major clashes were avoided.

The doughty warriors of Umbar put up a brave fight against a mordor invasion force in Harad. Nearly 3000 men of the South gave their lives dearly, as Mordor suffered 90% casualties on their 5000 troops. Their heroic stand inspired the people of Harad who rose up and forced their weakened enemy back from whence they came.

The Dwarven juggernaut comes to a halt as the Khazad people weigh up the cost of this terrible war. After much drinking and debate, the long bearded fellows retire to their beds and get working on producing the next wave of pint size killers.

Mordor threatens the very gates of Minas Tirith as 120,000 orcs and Easterlings begin the siege of the White Tower.
